§ 4.12.050. Responsibility.

  • A.

    Backflow prevention assemblies required under this chapter shall be approved by the District and shall be provided and installed by and at the expense of the owner.

    B.

    Such assemblies shall be installed in an accessible location and in a manner approved by the District. (Reference Standard Drawing 2A).

    C.

    The owner of premises where backflow prevention assemblies are installed shall regularly test and service such assemblies, as prescribed by the District, to maintain them in satisfactory operating condition and shall repair or replace such assemblies if they are found defective.

    D.

    Records of such tests, repairs, and replacement shall be kept by the owner and made available to the District.

    E.

    The owner's system shall be open for inspection at all reasonable times to authorized representatives of the District to determine whether cross-connections or other structural or sanitary hazards, including violations of these regulations, exist. When such a condition becomes known, the District shall deny, or immediately discontinue, service to the premises by providing for a physical break in the service line until the owner has corrected the condition in conformance with applicable state statutes and regulations and this chapter.
